Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People:

We have been receiving a lot of questions regarding the requirement to wear masks and social distance within the Cedarbrook communities once a person is fully vaccinated. It is still an MDHHS requirement, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask and social distance when in a long-term care facility. Additionally, a negative COVID-19 test is still required in order to enter a Cedarbrook community, even after being fully vaccinated. The ongoing need for these measures is further evidenced by the current rise in COVID-19 cases in Michigan.

MDHHS Order – March 2, 2021:

MDHHS issued an Order on March 2, 2021 which addresses visitation in senior communities, among other things.  Indoor visitation under this Order has resumed at all Cedarbrook communities.

The visitation schedule, which includes time slots for both outdoor/igloo visitation and indoor visitation, has been posted on Sign-Up Genius and moving forward, each week’s visitation schedule will be posted by noon on Monday. Visitation will continue to take place Wednesday through Sunday.  Scheduled visitation times will vary by community and care level. Some visits will begin as early as 9:00 AM, but in all cases, we ask that visits conclude no later than 7:00 PM.

Indoor visitation will take place in resident rooms only and please keep in mind that we must limit the total number of visitors in the building at all times in accordance with the Order. Because we are also required to limit the movement of people within the building, there will be no visitation in the common areas at this time, including the dining room.

Below are requirements outlined in the state’s visitation Order:

-Visitation is allowed as long as the facility has not had a new COVID-19 case in the last 14 days.

-The total number of visitors in the community at any one time must be scheduled and will be limited.

-Visits are limited to two people and will be allowed to take place in resident rooms.

-The Order specifically states that no more than two visitors per time slot will be allowed and you must maintain 6’ of social distancing at all times.

-Visitors must wear PPE. For Cedarbrook, this means, at a minimum, you must wear an ASTM Level 2 or 3 surgical mask while in our building. These are the same masks that we require our residents and staff to wear while in the building. Cloth masks or masks with valves will not be permitted. To locate a supplier of the required masks for Cedarbrook visitation, enter keywords ASTM Level 2 mask or ASTM Level 3 mask in your browser search engine. They are available thru Amazon.

-Visits MUST be scheduled via Sign-Up Genius.

-Upon arriving at the community, visitors must check in with the concierge 15 minutes prior to your scheduled visitation time. Your temperature will be taken and must be below 100 degrees to visit. You must also pass all screening questions.

-All indoor visitors ages 13 and older must provide written evidence of a recent negative COVID-19 test. This test must have been administered within 72 hours of the scheduled visit. For example, if you plan to visit on Thursday, you will need to have been tested on Tuesday or Wednesday and present confirmation of your negative test result to our concierge at check-in. As long as your community has a sufficient stock of rapid COVID-19 tests, Cedarbrook will be able to test visitors upon arrival. However, we cannot guarantee availability of the rapid tests at all times. NOTE: Being vaccinated does not nullify this testing requirement.

-Outdoor visits do not require testing.

-Wash/sanitize hands before and after each visit.

-Do not share food or drinks.

-At the conclusion of your visit, we ask that you promptly sign out at the concierge desk.

-Different rules apply to special categories of visitors, such as medical providers and those giving assistance with activities of daily living. Please follow the link below for details (for those of you reading this Alert in PDF format, you may need to copy and paste the link in your browser):

Rising COVID-19 Numbers in Michigan:

As outlined in the articles above, COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Michigan. This week we have seen our first new cases of COVID-19 at a Cedarbrook community since the beginning of February. The newly diagnosed cases are at our Rochester and Northville communities, but with the numbers rising around us, we all need to remember to take every precaution necessary to keep our residents and team safe.  Please continue to mask up, social distance and wash your hands frequently.

MDHHS Order – March 2, 2021:

MDHHS issued an Order on March 2, 2021 which addresses visitation in senior communities, among other things.  Indoor visitation under this Order resumed at all Cedarbrook communities last week.

The new visitation schedule, which includes time slots for both outdoor/igloo visitation and indoor visitation, has been posted on Sign-Up Genius and moving forward, each week’s visitation schedule will be posted by noon on Monday.
